Staff

Tony Meyer
Senior Pastor
pastortony@ivanrestcrc.org
Tony moved to Ivanrest with his wife and two children in 2001 after serving Gateway Church in Merced, CA. Not only have his two children grown up in Grandville, but he annually celebrates his garden growing each spring by providing fellow staff members with numerous updates on his harvest all summer long. He is also ready to talk Detroit Tigers baseball with anyone who is interested. His book club with other local pastors keeps him reading a variety of books and he volunteers at the Oral Cleft Clinic often touching base with fellow kids and families sharing the cleft lip and palate experience. His bowl of smarties on his desk is ready for kids (and adults) who stop by!

Brent Kladder
Pastor of Discipleship
discipleship@ivanrestcrc.org
Brent Kladder is the Pastor of Discipleship here at Ivanrest. He has a passion for seeing people grow in their understanding of who God is and what He means for our lives today. Brent oversees a number of programs designed to grow us in our relationship with God, in our relationships with each other, or both. Whether it’s a Life Group, a Bible study or joining us as someone new to the faith in Alpha, Brent would love to get to know you and walk your faith journey with you.

Jay Pruim
Pastor of Congregational Care
pastorjay@ivanrestcrc.org
Jay is our Pastor of Congregational Care. He is often the one who calls on our sick, our shut-ins, or those in need. Jay also loves planning events for our retirees at Ivanrest. He loves to plan social outings and have his friends come along. After serving in many different churches before we took him out of retirement, Jay knows many people. If you like to play Dutch bingo, Jay is the one to talk to.

Shari Ilbrink

Director of Worship
worship@ivanrestcrc.org
While worship planning and playing the piano are on the top of Shari’s gift list, juggling is quickly climbing in rank – juggling people that is! Each week she juggles around musicians, praise team members, media operators and sound technicians who all join together to bring us a wonderful worship service week after week. Her computer skills are put to good use managing the many details and aspects of weekly worship. Shari loves a good book, spending time with family and has a flair for event planning so you never know what exciting activity she’ll be involved with next!

Andrew Sherwood
Director of Community Connections & Outreach
asherwood@ivanrestcrc.org
Andrew is our Director of Community Connections and Outreach at Ivanrest. He was raised in Milwaukee, WI but moved to Grand Rapids while he was attending Cornerstone University. He is passionate about community and loves to see people come together to serve and worship God. When he is not working he loves to play the piano and sing, play games, or work on fixing up his new home. Andrew hopes to see everyone who comes to Ivanrest to be engaged in the community and ministries of Ivanrest Church. On Sunday mornings at Ivanrest you can usually find him at the Welcome Desk in the Narthex. So stop by and tell him hello, he loves to meet new people and get to know them better!

Justin Christensen
Director of Student Ministries
youth@ivanrestcrc.org
Justin has the honor of overseeing Student Ministries at Ivanrest Church. He works closely with middle and high school students but leads a team of passionate staff members who works with nursery through sixth grade children. They spend time working together to make all of Children’s and Student’s Ministries at Ivanrest the best they can be. He spends time encouraging students to walk closer with Christ each and every day by building personal relationships with them. He strives to involve adults who love kids to walk alongside of them through life. He plans events that engage students with Christ and other adults who care and love them. His greatest joy in life is seeing students encounter the grace filled Jesus Christ in a personal way in their life. If  you want to talk all things “Youth Ministry” he’s the one to talk to.

Anna Zylstra
iKids Coordinator
ikids@ivanrestcrc.org
Anna’s motto is, “It takes a church to raise a child.”  So, from birth to Kindergarten, she makes sure that we have the safest and most nurturing environment and volunteers for your precious little ones.   She gets the privilege of implementing curriculum that teaches children, two years old to Kindergarten, the faith steps of their age group.  Every other month on the 4th Sunday, she gathers all the three year olds to Kindergarten together and has an action lesson on one of the 4 faith steps, which can be found on the ikid’s page.  Please feel free to email or call if you have questions or to find out what ikids can mean for you and your little ones.

Elise Hoekstra
Communications Coordinator
communications@ivanrestcrc.org
Elise is the one who handles communications at Ivanrest. This includes the website, the bulletin, the newsletter and any promotional materials you might see. She has been part of the Ivanrest Staff since 2012, but has been part of the Ivanrest family since 1997. Talk to Elise if you want to get connected with communication at Ivanrest.

Dave Heerspink
Custodian
custodian@ivanrestcrc.org
Dave is our custodian. He is also on the facility committee. Dave takes care of the building, grounds and equipment, janitorial work and maintenance of our fleet of church vehicles. His hobbies are hiking, fishing and traveling. He and his family have been members since 2002. Dave feels joy in keeping God’s house clean and in excellent condition. Why does the staff love Dave? Well, have you ever worked with a custodian who enjoys picking up rubber bands all over church after the Cadets make rubber band shooting guns? Dave does!
