Mackinaw Striders: A Walk to Benefit the National MS Society
From August 26 to September 7, Sari Swets will be leading a group of walkers from Grand Rapids to Mackinaw City. It is our hope to raise awareness and funds for the National MS Society. This is a 222 mile walk, ending on Labor Day with the Mackinac Bridge Walk. The walk begins at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids. Would you like to join us for ANY part of the walk? Would you like to donate to the team? More details can be found on the bulletin board near the Library or at the team website http://main.nationalmssociety.org/goto/mackinawstriders. Approximately 15 people have signed up to walk at least one day. Please let Sari knowby July 13 if/when YOU would like to walk by emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org. Multiple Sclerosis affects the central nervous system. It causes a range of symptoms from vision problems and dizziness to paralysis in limbs and inability to function properly. Some of these symptoms go away and others are permanent. The MS society works hard at finding not only treatments, but hopefully, in the near future, a cure.
Interested in Online Giving?
Ivanrest Church has the ability to process online gifts! If you are interested in setting up online gifts to the church, please contact Betsy Miedema at email@example.com for more information.
Weston Apartments Birthday Party
The next Weston Apartments Birthday Party will be Thursday, June 11. All donations of laundry soap, dish soap, shampoo, body wash and men’s and women’s razors would be appreciated. Collections tubs for your donations are located in the hallway by the church offices. If you have any questions, contact Brenda Goodyke or Sue Vanderheide.
Donations for Guatemala
Thank you for your donations so far! We received an email from Paradise Bound stating that they are in desperate need of ibuprofen (200 mg), hydrocortisone cream/anti-itch cream, anti-fungal cream and Tussin children’s cough syrup. They also can use donations of anti-bacterial soap, naproxen/Aleve, antacids, hemorrhoid suppositories, triple antibiotic ointment. From now through June 20, here will be a table in the hallway by the church offices for your donations. Also needed are small toys, nail polish, toothpaste/brushes, hard candy and coloring books to name a few. A detailed list of items is on the counter in the back of church. Please keep in mind that we need toys that don’t require batteries or electricity and candies that will not melt. Thank you for your generosity and continued support!
iKids Coordinators Needed
We are looking for a Green iKids Coordinator/Helper and two Yellow iKids Coordinators next year! It takes roughly 1 to 2 hours per week. Lessons are all planned out and so the coordinator just has to get supplies, put them together and set up the room for the teachers each week. There will be iKids team meetings once per month from Late July early August to May. Some of those will be done by email. If you have a friend who would do it with you, you can trade off months, weeks or seasons even. Please email Anna Zylstra at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested or have questions.
