The lights were shining. The manger was bright. The star was twinkling and the donuts were warming. The frosting was spreading and the hay was shedding.
It was the night of the Live Nativity at Ivanrest. As volunteers began to arrive to set up the sound system, hot beverages and donuts, the air was like a tropical breeze from the ocean. We had the warmest Live Nativity ever with temps flirting with 60 degrees during the day. The forecast called for some rain but that didn’t stop this great tradition at Ivanrest Church. The characters were suited up and the angels were in place on the roof. Then the narrator started speaking and before we knew it three showings where done and the volunteers began taking down equipment and cleaning up the kitchen. It all went by so fast. Children and parents came from all around the community to witness the reenactment of the greatest story ever told, the Not So Silent Night when the baby Savior, Jesus, was born. The children walked away with bells to remember the sounds of the Christmas story and the gift of Jesus.
Thank you to everyone who helped out this year. We could not have done it with out all of you. The Ivanrest Staff is looking forward to doing this again next year!
