A Christmas Epiphany
Matthew 2:1-12
The Christian season of Epiphany often lives in the shadows of its more famous liturgical counterparts, Advent and Lent. But it is a significant season in the Church Calendar, because it is during Epiphany that we–like the first believers so long ago–begin to recognize Jesus for who he truly is: Not just a random child born in Bethlehem, but the Savior of the World. Today, on this first Sunday of Epiphany, we look at one of the traditional texts the Church has used to make that recognition: The coming of the Magi and their worship of the Christ Child.
