Psalm 133

The ultimate goal of the Jewish pilgrims who first sang these Songs of Ascent was the unified worship of God’s people together at the Temple. And that, in many ways, is still the goal of God’s people today. As the Apostle John famously wrote, one day Christians from “every nation, tribe, people, and language” will gather before the throne and before the Lamb to praise and worship him (Rev. 7:9). This psalm celebrates that. And, in doing so, it also celebrates the Savior in whom that unity is found–The Savior whose coming we celebrate today.
