“What are we here for? What’s our purpose? Why do we exist, and what are we supposed to do?” Those are some of humanity’s oldest questions. And for good reason. After all, if we don’t know our purpose, our function, or the reason for our existence, we won’t know what to do with it either. We won’t know how to live our lives or what God expects of us. We won’t know who we are. That’s part of why, as we begin this series on what it means to be God’s people today, we’re starting here: In the beginning. Because, in order to understand who God has called us to be as members of his Church, we first need to understand who God created us to be in the first place.
