Mark 2:23-28

Contrary to its design, the Sabbath has often been reduced to a legalistic list of do’s and don’ts that we need to slavishly follow so we don’t end displeasing God. But, as Jesus makes clear here, that is NOT its intent. Rather, the Sabbath was created as a gift to lead to human flourishing and delight. After all, as Jesus says in this passage, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”
