Matthew 4:1-11

As we said last week, the disciplines of solitude and silence help us encounter three “persons”. First, they help us encounter our (true) self, which is what we looked at last week. Second, they help us encounter our enemy, Satan, which is what we’re looking at today. And, third, they help us encounter God, which is what we’ll look at next week.
