Mark 9:30-37
Today’s sermon is the second of a three part “sub-series” within the larger Lenten sermon series. We’ve been considering how our baptism by water and the Spirit impacts our discipleship, reorienting us and giving us a new way of live. Today, as we look at Jesus’ second death prediction in the gospel of Mark, we’ll explore how our acts and attitudes of humility, service and hospitality demonstrate our willingness to accept, follow and serve our humble Savior, Jesus Christ.
If you’re looking to go deeper into this sermon series, we’ve adapted parts of it from Alexander Schmemann’s book Great Lent, which I’ve found to be a helpful resource on understanding and journeying through the Christian season of Lent.
