First century Jewish disciples didn’t just learn what their rabbi taught. They learned to be like him too. They learned what he was like at home and on the road, at work and in his hobbies, during the week and on the weekend–every aspect of his life. The same is true for us as Jesus’ disciples today. We need to learn not just what our rabbi, Jesus, taught, but what he was like. And then we, like the disciples of old, need to imitate him.
