Playing in Christ’s Orchestra

John 20:19-23

Christianity is a team sport. Just like baseball, football, and soccer aren’t a lot of fun to play alone, neither is our faith. It’s not fun for us to play alone, and it wasn’t fun for Jesus either. That’s part of why he invited disciples (both back then and now) to “play” alongside him. He not only invites us into the game, but also equips us with what we need. And the most important piece of “equipment,” if you will, that we need to play is the one we celebrate receiving today on Pentecost: The gift of the Holy Spirit.
