Luke 4:1-13

Unfortunately, when we read scripture these days, 2,000 years later (at least!) and half a world away from the time and place it was originally written, it’s easy to misunderstand and miss its true meaning. That’s where the discipline of studying scripture comes in, though, because it reveals to us what God is really trying to say and what the text we’re reading really means.

If you’d like to read a helpful book about what it looks like to read and engage with scripture, I’d recommend Eugene Peterson’s Eat This Book. It’s a beautiful reflection on the power of scripture and how we, as Christians, can truly read it for all it’s worth.
