The Israelites’ meeting with God at Mt. Sinai is going well enough. He gives them Ten Commandments, a bunch of other rules and regulations, and the blueprint for living a holy life as his people. But soon they’ll be on the move again. They’re not going to stay at Sinai. Instead, they’ll be working their way through the wilderness towards the Promised Land. What will become of God’s presence among his people then? Answer: He gives them a design for a sanctuary they can pack up and take with them, a portable tent of meeting, a “mountain” of his presence that moves–The Tabernacle.
