The One to Come
Luke 7:18-23
Luke makes more out of John the Baptist than any other gospel-writer. And yet, it’s interesting that this is the first interaction he records between Jesus and John. It’s also interesting that John seems so uncertain about Jesus: “Are you the one who is to come,” he asks him, “or should we expect someone else?” “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard,” Jesus says. In essence, “These are the things I’m doing; what do you think?” Well, friends, what do we think? Is Jesus the one to come? Or are we expecting someone (or something) else?
