The Praying Prophet
Jonah 2
Having resisted God and run from him, Jonah finds himself in the belly of a fish. It’s here, though, the prophet prays, and God puts his sovereignty on display. It turns out, even at rock bottom, God can still use us. But we also have to be willing to be used.
If you’re looking to go deeper into this sermon series, two resources I’ve found helpful in understanding Jonah are Tim Keller’s The Prodigal Prophet and Sinclair Ferguson’s Man Overboard! I would also recommend Tim Keller’s 2006 lecture on evangelism from the Desiring God conference. It’s not directly about Jonah, but Keller uses the book as a window into what evangelism looks like today.
