The Quiet Place
Luke 5:12-16
As we begin our series looking at the spiritual discipline(s) of solitude (and its twin discipline, silence), we begin first with Jesus’ example of this discipline, what it looks like, and why we need it.
A few books I found helpful in preparing this series were Invitation to Silence and Solitude by Ruth Haley Barton and Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport. While I don’t agree with everything these authors say (I hardly ever do!), I found their books thought-provoking and helpful for thinking about how we, as modern Christians, can engage the spiritual disciplines of solitude and silence.
