The United People of Christ
John 17:20-23
It’s always meaningful when someone prays for you. The prayer prayed for us in this passage is especially meaningful, though. That’s because it’s our Savior, Jesus Christ, who prays for us here. And what does he pray for? Unity. Unity in his Church. Unity among his people. More than anything else that might divide us, our shared faith in him should bind us together.
One book I found helpful in preparing this series was Myth of a Christian Nation by Gregory Boyd. While I don’t agree with everything the author says (I hardly ever do!), I found it a thought-provoking, interesting examination of scripture and its implications for our politics today.
