Water Into Wine

John 2:1-11

The Gospel of John is a bit like an artsy high school student. It’s unique; different; and it stands out from the crowd. There are a number of reasons for that. One of the differences, though, is that John doesn’t talk about Jesus’ miracles. Instead, he calls them signs, and throughout his Gospel, he highlights seven of them. And just like a road sign that points us ahead to what’s still to come, John’s signs are meant to point us ahead too: They point us ahead to who Jesus really is; they point us ahead to the significance and meaning of what he did; and they point us ahead to what he’s still going to do. We’re going to spend the next seven weeks looking at them and what they tell us about Jesus–Who he is, why that matters, and what it means for us as Christians today. And, for the first one, we find ourselves at a wedding.
